American Environmental Landfill (AEL) has begun operations of its new landfill gas to energy facility at its site near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The facility currently generates some 3.2 MW, but according to the company it plans to eventually generate close to 4.8 MW.
Up to this point, AEL said that it has been flaring the methane produced by the landfill, and claimed that the landfill is now the first in Oklahoma to operate a landfill gas to energy system.
