PepsiCo Inc. increased its use of food grade recycled PET by 23 percent last year compared to the year before.

The Purchase, N.Y.-based company used 134 million pounds of the material, according to a newly released sustainability report.

The soft drink giant also reported it cut its packaging by 89 million pounds in 2014 from 2013.

PepsiCo further indicated it diverted 93 percent of its waste from landfills. This surpasses the company’s 90 percent goal

Will they support a container deposit scheme though which will take recycling of empty bottles from around 10% to over 80%?   That would be a real sustainable step.
