Mercury News editorial: Silicon Valley must do its part to reduce plastic in oceans – San Jose Mercury News.

San Jose is to be applauded for its foresight to rid us of plastic bags.   They are indeed seeing into the future and the greater than now mess, we would have if nothing changed.

It is amazing to see a number of comments from people criticizing such a move towards a sustainable future over their own short term selfish needs.  A lot of people it seems need to have a good look into the plastic waste problem we are all making, here and in other countries.  To put ones head in the sand and say it is not me is choosing to be just leave the problem for their descendents to deal with.  Plastic waste is a huge and getting larger problem every year as it is not biodegrading away.  It needs a huge solution and moves like this are a vital part of it.
