Veolia Opens 16 MW Newhaven Waste to Energy Plant – Waste Mangagement World.

At the opening Veolia were keen to point out that the plant operates under highly controlled conditions and converts residual waste left over after recycling into around 16.5 MW of electricity for the National Grid – enough electricity to power 25,000 homes.

The facility will also provide the opportunity to supply heat to nearby users. 

The company said that Emissions are monitored constantly and the Environment Agency has stringent requirements for the operation of the plant.
Veolia said that the plant represents a £160 million capital investment in the area and various orders placed locally during the construction phase totalled over £10 million.
