The bill proposes making plastic waste a bigger part of U.S. trade policy, looking at barriers to plastics recycling and setting up a revolving loan fund for states.
The legislation, called Save Our Seas Act 2.0, builds on more modest legislation passed last year and signed into law by President Donald Trump.
Well done to bring this to this high level, but it many ways it needs to start at home too. The use of single use plastic in the USA per person is so high. Very high. If that was curtailed (and it could be curtained a lot with no real impact to people) then the demand for the plastic from these 10 sources would be reduced. Can they work on that too is the question?
