Biodegradable additives vs. recycling debate boils over in Mexico

The consultant had the right idea, he just does not understand the difference between biodegradable and degradable additives. He erroneously lumps them into one product when they are very different. Degradable is a chemical reaction that causes plastic to fragment into little bits of plastic which is bad for the environment. Biodegradable or more properly landfill-biodegradable is a biological reaction whereby local microorganisms in a landfill attack the plastic waste and digest it away. Since most plastic is discarded to a landfill in Western countries this type of additive is the best one to use. Señor De la Tijera needs to take a minute to understand the different products before he makes comments on products. He is a consultant afterall.
