Boulder to consider fee on paper, plastic grocery bags rather than ban – The Denver Post

Once again the plastic bag lobby drags out the excuse of “more education is needed to train people to recycle bags before imposing fees or banning bags”. They do this every time and often say we can’t do it because jobs will be lost at the plastic bag making plant. They say this as they well know that if this was the policy enacted, that very little would change and they would still be selling as many plastic bags in 10 years time.
Charging a fee for either paper or plastic bags is a good option as it banning plastic bags. Charging a fee allows all retailers to be involved in the process of reducing our plastic bag usage and not separate out one business type over another.
