DuPont urges customers to consider sustainability
Posted on April 9, 2012 by DrRossH in BioPlasticsPlastics News – DuPont urges customers to consider sustainability.
A company like DuPont ought to be first considering its plastic footprint. The environmental damage plastic does is enormous and as a plastics and chemical producer, DuPont ought to be a leader in this not a propagator.
BioPlastics being good for the environment is spin only. A bioplastic will last as long as a conventional plastic. They are not biodegradable at all unless sent to a special commercial composting facility which is not going to happen to most bioplastics. They will persist as pollution as long as a petroleum plastic will. The fact they come from plants and not oil is questionable if that is good too.
