Fremantle bans plastic bags

A near first for Australia. Congratulations to Fremantle for taking the stand. Fremantle is an ocean side city in Western Australia. They have banned non biodegradable bags. Lets hope their officials can distinguish between biodegradable and degradable bags. Degradable bags (made from oxodegradable additives) cause a bag to fragment into little pieces which is worse for the environment. Whereas true biodegradable bags will naturally biodegrade in a landfill.
