Landfill Gas Trigeneration Plant Supplies Heat, Power & Cooling to Coca-Cola – Waste Mangagement World.

Mas Energy said that the facility includes a vacuum collection system that captures methane gas from a nearby landfill, which is converted the gas to clean-burning fuel and piped it to the trigeneration facility via a six mile pipeline.

The system generates at least 48 million kWh of on-site biomass energy annually – the equivalent of eliminating the carbon dioxide emissions, and according to the developer to reduce the beverage producer’s carbon footprint by approximately 20,400 tons (18,500 tonnes) annually.

While it is nice for Coke to want to reduce their carbon foot print, it would be very nice if they reduced their plastic foot print too.
