Lightweight plastic bags to be banned in Victoria – AustraliaPosted on October 17, 2017 by DrRossH in Plastic Limiting Regulations
Single-use lightweight plastic bags will soon be banned across Victoria.
The government has promised to deliver a “workable scheme” in consultation with the community that doesn’t “unfairly impact” on retailers, consumers or the environment.
However, it cited instances in other jurisdictions where banning lightweight bags had lead to greater use of heavier plastics, which can also damage the environment.
Finally! This article shows though that there are a number of issues the state government is making of this that the final result may not be the simple ban we all need to happen.
