Plastics News – SPI targets OEMs with new council.

Advocating for zero plastic waste should be the main focus of the plastics industry going forward.   For too long the industry produced plastic that has been accumulating as non biodegrading waste in our environments.  The solution for this problem has to come from the plastics industry as leaders in the education process to stop irresponsible production of non biodegradable disposable plastic items and educating consumers to not trash their plastic waste but to recycle it.  The plastics industry has to get heavily involved in recycling of plastic to get it back for remanufacturing into new products rather than just use new material feedstock all the time.   Those days are coming to a end.  The companies that understand this and prepare to move over to using recycled plastic are going to be the long term winners.    SPI should be leading this transition with educating their members.
