The wacky items Brisbane is banning – AustraliaPosted on May 20, 2018 by DrRossH in Balloons, Plastic Straws
BRISBANE City Council has announced it’s about to become one of Australia’s most environmentally friendly councils after it committed to banning plastic straws, helium balloons and single-use bottles.
“It’s a win for Brisbane, it’s a good outcome and we’re pleased to have been able to lead the debate on that,” he said.
Last month, British Prime Minister Theresa May laid out plans to ban single-use plastics, including straws, drink stirrers and cotton buds, to stop pollution.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull wouldn’t commit to doing the same in Australia, saying it was a matter for state regulation.
Lead the way to the future Brisbane.
